The complexity of Continued Airworthiness Management is a subject that is very underestimated! 

Successful Technical Management hinges on complying with mandatory requirements and mitigating expenses that are not always foreseeable. The Technical Manager must comply with strict legal requirements related to safety and security at a minimum and reasonable cost. Informed decisions and continual diligence help to achieve positive results. However, whether or not the aircraft is actually flying, aircraft airworthiness must still be maintained.

By contributing to effectively managing the aircraft and analysis of related data, operational cost can also be reduced and the value of the aircraft assured. Effective cost management can be difficult due to unscheduled events, nevertheless preventive steps can be taken to moderate long-term cost.

Today many registries and regulators use the term “CAMO” generically, however it doesn't necessarily imply the same requirements as EASA Part-M.
